The Color Red

Since our week culminates in the ultimate day of red, we thought we would visit our favorite color at Lolita and share a few of its symbolisms with you:

Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate. Red is energizing. It excites the emotions and motivates us to take action.

Red signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, promoting ambition and determination. Being also the dominant color of physical movement, red awakens our physical life force. As you know, red is often used to express love, as in Valentine’s Day, however it relates more to sexuality and lust, rather than love – love we think is expressed with the color pink.

The color red can and does stimulate the appetite. It also increases craving for food and other as well as other stimuli. Being surrounded by too much red can can sometimes cause our emotions to takeover. Too little, however, and we become cautious, manipulative and fearful. So when you think of red think of:

Energy: it boosts our physical energy levels, increases our heart rate and blood pressure and prompts the release of adrenalin.

Action: it is fast moving and promotes a need for action and movement.

Desire: it relates to physical desire in all its forms- sexual, appetite, cravings.

Passion: it means a passionate belief in an issue or undertaking, including passionate love or passionate hate. Anger is negative passion.

Whenever you feel you need a dose of red, or something else to stimulate your senses be sure to stop in at Lolita Tartine. We love red.
